How it started:
Kid originally started off dancing in both street dance as well as breaking. When Kid was accepted into Impact Dance, a hip-hop theatre company and street dance organisation, he had two left feet! The company’s choreographer spent a lot of time investing in Kid, after which he was able to call himself a street dancer. This also provided Kid with a platform from which his street dance career took off.
During Kid’s time in dance he has joined a number of crews which includes, Notorious B-Boys, who showed Kid what it was to be a true B-Boy and opened his eyes to the B-Boy scene. It was also this group that the B-Boy name ‘Kid’ originated from.
Entropy was another group Kid joined in which he learnt the essence of battling and what it means to train to a deadline. Kid and the rest of Entropy entered Jump Off which w
as where Kid made his name in the B-Boy world.
Other groups which Kid joined where Supremebeings, which was where Kid was able to combine his years of street dancing, breaking and battling; Hazard which was a group based on street dancing and Vision, who eventually won the UDO World Street Dance Championships with the group coming in 1st place in team events and Kid coming in 3rd place for solo events.
As a crew member Kid brings together these different disciplines with a lot of power and passion. Combined with his attitude he is a very dynamic part of the Imperial Steps family.
Why I joined Imperial Steps Crew? For as long as I can remember, I’ve always looked up to Imperial Steps as a professional crew. The first time I saw the crew, I was amazed to see that a crew could be so organised and so determined. Vitamin, the leader of ISC, displayed a great understanding of the break dancing world and the dimension in which it was based.
Being a new dancer, I felt that without a stable crew, I would never truly harness my true potential and felt that under Vitamin’s leadership, I could be the B-Boy I always wanted to be. After knowing Vitamin for two years and constantly requesting a space in his group, (even going as far as battling him for his crew shirt) he finally gave me a space, knowing I would represent. - Kid
